Let Jamiroquai take you on a White Knuckle Ride. Come here to talk about anything related to the new album...

I personally think that the new jamiroquai album "rock dust light star" is an absolute masterpiece. I love every single song on it! However I can't help but notice that the singles are not doing particularly well in the charts (not that anyone really cares about the charts lol). I think this is mainly due to the choice of singles so far. Don't get me wrong, "White knuckle ride" and "blue skies" are good songs but i think that there are better songs on the album. Hopefully there are plans to release more songs as singles, i'm not sure if there are. Anyway, if any more songs are going to be released into the charts as singles from rock dust light star, i would like to suggest two completely different things, because it has lyrics which everyone can relate to, it is very catchy, very funky and it's just a really really good song which i think everybody likes. What does everyone else think?...

Me likes it! Me likes the entire album so they might just pick one randomly and I will approve the decision

Gotta say I think both 'White Knuckle..' and 'Blue Skies' are very obvious choices from the album. Granted it is a master piece and yes there are 'better' songs on the album but these two are the ones that will be accessible to a wider audience and that's important when launching an album

Yep but seriously...they could have cut Blue Skies. The bloody song is quite depressive

I think both "Blue Skies" and "White Knuckle Ride" are good. But I think I prefer " Two Completely Different Things". I have no idea which would do better on the radio. I would guess the latter.

Really? I feel exactly the opposite. I think that the song is rather uplifting - and fund to sing along with. As for singles, don't forget that JK has to plead his case before the record company. The record company has its own idea of what the singles should be...

In one interview Jay said he didn't really like Blue Skies. But maybe it was the picked because (martketability? Check out that -FaceCulture Interview).
Blue Skies now, like getting past something difficult. I think it is just real pop. But very well-written. Just not like past Jamiroquai.

Blue skies is good, i like it, and i also think it's uplifting. However, I don't really think it is a song which can grab people's attention, there's nothing to latch onto. It's the kind of song you hear on the radio and think "i like this song" but then when it's finished, you completely forget about it withing a couple of minutes. Unless you are a fan of jamiroquai, you are unlikely to remember it. Two completely different things on the other hand has a catchy beat and lyrics which we can all relate to, so i think it would do better in the charts. (+ it's a just better lol).

I don´t know if this is the best song in the album, because i love all of them, but it´s true when i listen it, i feel a big emotion, it fills me. All the album is a master piece, i usually listen to it since when it went out, and every time i like it more

This song has such an easy style listen. But I wouldn’t categorize it as easy-listening. It’s so airy and light! It is "just so fine". The voice is so smooth and relaxing. The music perfectly groovy. A mellow song. Great percussion and rhythm. Love the trumpet. Classic Jamiroquai? I think this one would be great on the Radio! Lyrics -A relaxed explanation that things didn’t work out. I think half the song is aimed at a particular person. One relationship that didn’t turn out that seemed to be destined to last forever. And the other half - empty picture frame. Maybe like a partner is missing. “What I want, and what you give” well that is a conflict of interest! I think the interpretation is explaining why he (Jay?) is not married -Nobody is fitting the bill! But that it is still in the plans. Please -I really don’t know, just how I hear it! “I know I’m hard to understand” –such a line to admit! It's complicated!

The only thing I know is that I could have written these lyrics...they fit perfectly in my life and can't imagine a better song to me in this album

**And not saying everybody has to get married. Today I wrote to complain to Rolling Stone magazine (again). Accidentally in my writings I wrote " But what I want was what you gave when I was younger" because their magazine used to feature better cover stories.

Well I found their e-mail address letters@rollingstone.comI've only sent maybe 3 notes. But they've probably banned my e-mail!I have a subscription and usually hate their cover stories.

I love "Hey Floyd"! One of my favourite songs ever made. I think that some people (if it was released as a single) wouldn't understand it properly though. TCDT would reach more people I feel, it would be the perfect song to release as a single. It's about time jamiroquai released something new too!

Yes, 2 completely different things, she's a fast persuader and Lifeline would make great releases here. Maybe also Smoke & Mirrors.
