I have spent the last hour listening to it..
It´s very different to White Knuckle Ride obviously...very dreamy I love the production, the guitar sounds..lovely It is a lovely song. Not something you would expect from Jamiorquai though. My guess is that they want to come back in the UK charts with this tune and reach a wider audience..

Maybe that's the reason this song was first aired on Radio 2, whereas 'White Knuckle Ride' was played on Radio 1..

Shock Wave~~~~ Okay, my critique after 1 listen: Completely different Jamiroquai! Excellent vocal. But not what I was expecting. This more like "Soul". But definitely the voice from "Classic Soul" music I loved. It's like Rod Stewart meets Careless Whisper (and I mean this in the best regard!!!) I agree -definitely will capture a wider audience. I think Jay's voice has never sounded that good, cuz I'm a voice girl. Vocally, he is really good and has definitely grown. But it's a little ...mellow. But I typically do love the ballads. 2nd listen -more relaxed after running around. Already like it more. A feel-good melody, something we yearn for. But recently coming from the Em/jay z show, maybe I'm just too angry! My new quote - Have no expectations, and you'll never be disappointed.

I agree with the majority.....completely different Jamiroquai yet still compelling. Jay's vocals are just immense. He's changed from a young, raw voice to a controlled, melodic voice. I like it. Maybe not as much as previous things, but I love it. Like with all Jamiroquai music, it grows and grows, and before you know it....you have a buffalo man tattoo on your arm with SPACE COWBOY underneath!!!
Peace, love, good vibez.

Well after listening to it loads of times I can say its an OK song and defintely highly produced which you would expect from Jamiroquai. I just hope its not all rock otherwise I shant be buying the album at all this must be majority funk/jazz otherwise its not Jamiroquai just a bunch of guys trying to be all coldplay/keane. Oh the musical styles of ROTSC and EOPE, how I miss you.

Nice song. Nice composition/arrangement. I like the strings too. Just not over fussed on the over-processed pitch-corrected vocal. Makes it sound a bit sterile to my ears.

i really like the new track however i don't sense the "sun-kissed Californian ballad" like it was mentioned, instead i just find it soft, sweet and sounds like something u would hear 40 years ago..it seems like a lot of fans are displeased with blue skies , IMHO i think the band still got it, they don't have to prove they are still big by getting #1 hits because they have reached the climax of their music career in 1996.... they still have loyal fans and can still sell out tickets within minutes...just as long as they continue to make music that is inspired, organic and original then i will be thrilled to hear the other new tracks and see them live...can't wait to hear goodbye to my dancer

i think that too! in some parts its remainds me to ''the world that he wants'' or ''black crow'' ... i think is a pretty good song! i thought that is gonna to sound like ''7 days in sunny june''... but still being a good song! it could be the final song on the album, just like ''king for a day''.. which have a music video too! so, i am not surprise if BLUE SKIES has his own video already filmed!!!! but if it's gonna be the FIRST single, i think it shouldn't cuz it have not all the power that JMRQ need to hit the world... it should be the 3er or 4th single from the album! just like ´´King for a day´´ one thing that really bugs me is that some people (fans more then others) will like it and others just not,,, like ''Feels just like it should'' at firts ... so, don't act like if it was a infaltuation of yours pleasee! let's be realistic... JMRQ already changed between 1999 and 2001 to this days And i still love them no matter what!!!! cuz i know that they are a great band and will always bring the funk on their shows over and over again!!!!!

please feel free to complete and correct the lyrics I wrote down so far :
So these are the figurines acting out all the scenes before my eyes I thought I knew them all by name But they started looking much the same And its no surprise
But I don't´wanna listen Too much How can I give up on all the days I know I´ve won There is nothing but rainbows I believe in the shadows
now honey ….dropping out now i am gonna work it out I am gonna work with me (?) I am gonna like it …..looser …..sea
You know that people are saying strange things
Talk to the hand ´cause i know the (…) face is gone(?)
I don´t wanna listen Too much I am not gonna give up on all the days I know I´ve won There is nothing but blue sky There is nothing but blue sky
Nothings gonna stop me now I am skimming like a skipping stone on a silver lake I take it when the chips are down But to play the perfect happy clown You gotta make a mistake (gotta make mistakes)
People are saying Strange things And I don't´wanna listen ( I don´t wanna listen) Too much yeah
Nothing but blue sky Blue Sky
How can I tell you are notice the last soul (?) i don´t wanna listen /( I don´t wanna listen) too much Not gonna give up on the days I know I´ve won
Thats where I am going ´cause there is nothing ,nothing but blue sky Thats where I am going Nothing but Rainbows falling down on me …uh yeah heyyy
Nothing but blue sky Can´t you see That´s where I am going Got to believe me That´s where I am going

I had to locate the song on youtube to listen to it. The link above did not work for me.
It's not what I expected. They are obviously going for a different sound. I can respect that.
Marvin Gaye was arguably the best soul singer ever and he recorded standard songs you'd expect to hear from Frank Sinatra, i.e. "Fly Me To The Moon. Artists like to switch things up sometimes.
My only issue with this song is that Jay Kay does not sound quite like himself. Soul/Funk music is very sensual and passionate. You have to have fire to perform it successfully. Jay Kay and Jamiroquai did it sucessfully because Jay Kay has that fire. In my opinion pop music does not require that same fire. This is a pop song. It's also a fire extinquisher in this instance for Jay Kay.
But, as someone stated earlier they are probably trying to appeal to a larger audience. If that's the goal pop music is the way to go.
Good luck.

The song seems like almost an apology for the past, and sense of picking himself up and living in the positive.
And it is lovely. And kinda sad.

I've listened to Blue Skies several more times, i do like it , love it when it picks up with the strings. lyrically I agree it does sound sad, sounds optomistic about what lies ahead, despite past upsets, differences.

I'm not saying this just to be negative, I swear, but every time they attempt a ballad it turns out like sh*t. Sorry guys. Sounds like RHCP without the vibe they usually have - without any vibe for that matter. I 'unno, just doesn't sit with me. The lyrics aren't half bad though.

Hmm...it's surprising to read what people says about this song. Correcting my comment, I'm kinda surprised how they try to make a ballad. This is awesome, but I think the band are not doing their "best" in this song. Like, this is just half-finished.
That's all my opinion, and sorry for my english. I think the song will grow on me as time goes.

Just listened now and I know I will be killed in a gazilion different ways but...I hate it! It's too slow and sounds like it was made for fresh couples... it's too errrr... soft? There's something missing and so far I can't say I like it...
