Gorillaz Out From the Mist

During the debut performance of selections from his forthcoming 'Mali Music' project in London last night (March 26), Damon Albarn revealed some of the band members behind Gorillaz.

Bringing together musicians from Mali and his own band, Albarn explained that rehearsals for the concert had taken place in 100 degree West African heat and that members of the Gorillaz band had enjoyed a unique experience jamming with musicians in Bamako City.

He didn't mention which of the players that joined him onstage were from the highly secretive Gorillaz but the band consisted of Simon Katz (guitars), Cass Browne (drums), Roberto Occhipinti (bass), Simon Burwell (Keys) and Mike Smith (sax/keys/melodica/glock).

Until now, the faces behind Albarn's Gorillaz project have been shrouded in secrecy and the band have always played live shows from behind a screen of animated projections.

joined Gorillaz???

I liked simon Katz but Rob really wipes the floor with him...Jamiroquai never had such a influential guitarrist...great solos, great feel and most of all Rob's very creative.

But katz was a cool cat!

Peace

derrick is a great drummer... but i prefer Nick Van Gelder... i dunno, his style is unique... Derrick Mckenzie is power....
but Sonny Emory is the dad of the drummers.... no one better than him...

Well yeah but all good things come to an end. People change over time, that's just nature they get differenet, not everyone or everything can stay exactly the same forever. It may not be like the old times but exactly what is?
