star's illness

The Space Cowboy. Talk about anything related to Jay. His singing, his clothes, his Black Devil Car, his style...

their failures are amplified because of their public spotlight, its like they're living life under a magnifying glass. :o

its probably just entertaining to watch someone like us, so removed from regular society, do "normal"(includes failing) things or things we'll never experience  .

And because they're so distant from us its so easy to categorize them and we shape them to the way our imagination builds them up to be because we're all searching for that personal "ideal".

Sometimes a person seems to embody that ideal , and when they stray from characteristics that build your ideal, they become failures in your eyes :)

basically rephrasing everything everyone said here

This is wrong. It's the opposite; we pretend to expect them to be perfect but actually hope they'll do wrong so that we can direct our thoughts away from our miserable failures to THEIR miserable failures!

it's a 50/50 :?

Hmmm interesting. I think famous people do choose to be in the limelight, i mean that is what beng famous is all about... it's their job to be visible and its part of the business to be over scrutinzed for everything they do and say, that's just the way it is.

The other thing is, that they do have a responsibility to maintain an image. Famous people are often reponsible for trends whether it be fashion or behaviour. It's the innate nature of people to copy, we copy and immatate our peers, we even copy the body language of people we talk to, so its only natural to copy famous people, and in that respect, they do need to be careful about what image they project. And famous people seem to be aware of the popular power they have, that's why so many of them are jumping on the charity, adoption and poverty bandwagon, becaus ethey know they are in a position to influence the masses into supporting social harmony causes and environmental causes.

With that being said, fans also need to be realistic about their idols. After all they are only human and should not be held up as role models, even though in a way famous people have put themselves up to be role models. But we shouldn't forget that they are human, and they eat, breath, sleep, go to the toilet, get angry, get cold, get sick, bla bla bla, we are all human, some of us are just more well known that others.

what's more though, these days, (i only really know in australia and the US) it seems like cheap talk and bad media is taking over EVERYTHING.
and leaving us with little quality or direction of thought, when everyone, at least sub/unconciously really desires this direction in their lives
i am very frustrated with a sense of the wasteland this creates[/i]
