I had a friend who always used to be suffering from 'that time of the month' for most of Ramadan. Because you don't have to fast then, is that right?

We're getting quite off-topic here, but I have my 2 cents about what you guys wrote:

About which drinks are you speaking? The ones with alcohol? Isn't the consumption of alcohol strictly forbidden for Muslims? (except this one Islamic branch based in Syria.)

I know, I know, you can buy alcohol in a lot of Muslim countries, Turkey for instance. But I know for example a Turkish man who is quite religious (not one of the offensive one) who doesn't drink a single drop of alcohol.

You may drink no alcohol during Ramadan, like some religious Catholics don't eat any meat during lent. [But most of us Catholics only avoid meat on Ashen wednesday (the beginning of lent) and Saint friday (the day we celebrate Jesus' death, the friday before Easter, Easter which is the end of lent).]
The real religious Catholics though don't only eat no meat during lent, but also every friday in the year.

Islam in my country is mostly sort of liberal. We here think that drinking is forbidden only in large amounts, and then, originally, only wine was forbidden and no other drink. And another thing,it is misunderstood many many times,it is allowed to drink until you can keep your senses. But on Ramadan it is forbidden, and so is any other small or big sin that Muslims may do.

Just wondering if we could try and keep it a bit on-topic here - I think the subject of drinking etc. in different countries is a good topic to talk about, but could it be done in a separate/new topic in the 'Everyday Chat' - thanks heaps in advance :) :) :)
