So, do people outside my continent know this? A little tune by Stevie "My Eyes don't cry no more" (ugh double negative) the extended version
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwjA75O-uCk

But it's always been danced to the Hustle -maybe only in Detroit!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9q7HvKnU-g

Here's a tune always on my radio too, wonder if it's played elsewhere Eminem!

Thanks Jamirofan for the album info! Another October release. I deleted my comment so his voice stays on top! The Americans are keeping this page alive!

worked out to BSSM by the RHCP, didn't realize how much Kiedis talks about his willy!
RHCP's "Power of Equality" is America's answer to early Jamiroquai? The lyrics were challenging the status quo and still important today

aw heck let it play through

Very sad to hear of Prince's passing. He's always been a favorite of mine, and it's ironic he passes just months following Vanity. I believe many of his early songs were for her.

favorite songs by Prince:
"Purple Rain": just sums up his somber side and guitar skills.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8LBesSiHyc
"I wanna be your Lover": an early favorite, maybe his best song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0-MlULHw6o
"Free": what he always was and is, expressive
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnE775jB0Ik

The full album of 1999!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csuTQxTRgOA

I went to New York City this past weekend, and Prince was all over the place - in music, on TV, in conversations, in the media, fan art billboards, music playing in the bars, and part of every event attended! But the media talks about who he was, more than his music; a philanthropist. He was more than his music, but put his money in the community. Because he was a Jehovah's Witness, he didn't claim what he did. And he supposedly, keeping up with his faith, went door-to-door as a JW. If someone recognized him, he was "Brother Nelson"!

Van Jones speaks on who Prince was -amazing interview!

yes it is Disco Joliegirl! the Bee Gees always seem to remind me of Saturday Night Fever!
Happy Mother's Day to the moms!

I have this hilarious story.
I've gotten to know this friend, chatting every week she reveals she worked at the same music venue as me when we were young. But one time she had to hunt down the musical act that was due to go on stage. So, being told that he liked his booze, she started looking for Chuck Berry outside of the venue. She found him in a neighboring restaurant, in the corner or booth, sleeping!

She said she had to tap him on the shoulder "Mr. Chuck, Mr. Chuck, you're due on stage now".

Now that would be a brush with greatness! I'm sure she didn't really realize who he was! Sad he wasn't being driven around in a limo with his greatness!

"giving you the best that I got" - anita baker

I was driving earlier and the line played where she sings, "When I feel as if my home is in your arms" - and my heart melted because I could relate and where else would you want to be? Never thought I was a romantic ;-) Who knew? And Anita Baker's voice . . .

@Giba - great story. I have some florescent pink Chuck Berry's :-)

@DJ-Cassius - me too; "Shoot the Moon" last night and "Seven Days in Sunny June" earlier. Jam's music is evergreen.

I instantly cried when I found out Prince died. (only other was Marvin Gaye).
I always expressed how great I thought he was, and is.
Even though I didn't follow his current music, he was such a part of my life in youth. This is what music does, it touches our hearts or is part of our lives.

Today, the funny thing is all the Prince fans are on a frenzy watching his previously banned videos and interviews on Youtube!! He kept us from knowing him, which is kinda sad, but something to celebrate and enjoy before it gets pulled down. But what he did was fight for the writer's ownership of their music.

Really, I planned to go to the Movement festival this past weekend -but I missed it.
Detroit, a blank canvas back in the '90's, created the techno scene; Electronic music lent from Europe.
Never really being a fan of the music, I knew the guy before he started it. 2 owners start a bar in Hamtramck of techno music, and it makes world news. And when it folds, the DEMF is started. People come from all over to Detroit for the festival, and I miss it every year. :P

I like Drake's "One Dance". Funny you can't find a video because of the ridicule of Hotline Bling! So none with the girl's full voice. But in this song the female voice has that delay. Don't know what they call this but it's always in a soul song.

Funny the songs I can't stand even though the artist is good :o

There is this fabulous 90 minute documentary/movie on Michael Jackson by Spike Lee called "Journey From Motown to Off the Wall". It is before Thriller, and includes his days as the Jackson 5. Even Mark Ronson is interviewed!

Hey Giba, Im good thank you, but quite busy. So I drop in as I can. I've been deeply thinking of Jamiroquai today and later unexpectedly heard & listened to, Jamiroquai songs on the radio for 1 hour. I've been dancing in the kitchen :)

I hope you are well too. Take care!
