Re: What are you listening now?Detroit radio played the cutest song today!
Michael Jackson "Maria" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybuoMuYyIgI these vocals almost seem better than his later ones ![]() ![]()
Re: What are you listening now?oh my god I went down south and there was no good radio stations! How could you live there?
Re: What are you listening now?Giba,
That's why I love SiriusXM satellite radio! But I also love the south...I vacation in Georgia every year. ![]()
Re: What are you listening now?@Erin Georgia is beautiful and has a lot of plantations! Been to Savannah & Hilton Head back in the '90's. We just went to the Smokey mountains (TN).
Re: What are you listening now?Marvin Gaye - "Since I Had You" off "I Want You" album. melting . . .

Re: What are you listening now?Beautiful music Marvin Gaye! He wrote of love. Lotsa love.
But also racism and questioned mankind, like Jamiroquai does on Manifest Destiny! That's the similarities I see. I've been listening more to Stevie Wonder -I thought this was hilarious! Seems like a lot of fun & Happy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqrvm2X ... e=youtu.be
Re: What are you listening now?@giba (cheeba cheeba yall) haha! yes I saw the beginning of that Stevie Wonder video but did not finish. the beginning was quite funny.
I am discovering the entire - "I Want You" album by Marvin Gaye and wow, it is something. There are so many songs on there I love - "Come Live with Me Angel" (which was sampled by 50 cent), "After the Dance" ,"All the Way Around" -all really mellow, subtle sexy. Baby making music - It gets you in the mood to - erm - get it in ![]() So is Jam really coming out with a new album in 2016 - if so I want to get my tix in advance to come hear the new material and think that opportunity should be presented to fans first (just a tip.) Peace and L'Shana Tova (jewish happy new year) and happy? Yom Kippur (day of atonement)
Re: What are you listening now?
I do love this tune!
Don't know. Band members have said they've been in the studio. When they tour, they seem to announce the cities at different times! But they probably won't tour N. America anyways! and I don't plan to travel to see them again, but if I do, I won't social media it.

Lynyrd Skynyrd I think that confederate flag means something different to us Yanks! ![]() haha!! I watched the video after posting and saw at 9:28 Collins jumping up & down in Adidas shoes!
Re: What are you listening now?Ha! I do not blame Jam for avoiding what is becoming a cultural and artistic wasteland in the world - where reality stars with sex tapes garner more respect and power than talented people who make artistic contributions. It's becoming an embarrassing nationality - culturally and gastronomically.
I would travel if it was only Jam and not a festival. Also, I think long time Jam fans have to accept the band's evolution musically and content wise. I am not sure I would want to see them perform the old stuff when their soul, heart and mind is in their new material. I read an article about Prince/Outkast doing this - i.e., performing old hits because the crowd loves them - and it is not inspiring artistically to perform stuff you are not into any more like an automaton. Still listening to Marvin
Re: What are you listening now?
Yes, the festival is more about the company you go with. For me to go to another festival it must be local! My friends, my car, my territory! ![]() But how can you say they don't want to perform their old stuff? It's all Jay's stuff. And the band perform plenty of music that isn't of their writings. I say perform whatever they want to perform, even if it isn't theirs, because it's about performance most. And as a fan, I'd enjoy watching performance of any of their music choices.
Re: What are you listening now?I meant that Jam should not feel obligated to perform certain songs just to please the crowds. They should play a set that they are into and want to play; not just play old hits for the audience's sake. They can play old stuff, new stuff whatever but if they feel they have outgrown some of the older hits they should not have to play them and we should accept their evolution.
Was listening/watching to live Jam videos and live performances at the gym just now - Shoot the Moon, Travelling w/o moving, Space Cowboy video, Seven Days in Sunny June (love that f----- video) - want to recreate that video. It looks like it was loads of naughty fun to shoot.
Re: What are you listening now?Reread what I wrote because you interpreted wrong

Re: What are you listening now?haha Jolie! (you were just here). I sound so offensive -not meant to be! I just back the band's choice of what they want to play -so we agree on the same points!! Call it an Evolution!
Madonna came to Detroit (no I didn't go). But friend was disappointed she didn't play "Borderline". I asked if she played "Burning Up" and she said yeah. But to me this was her best song! and she wanted to play that one over the "hit". So good for her. ![]() also Borderline may be too difficult for her to sing today ![]() Last edited by Giba7 on Tue Oct 06, 2015 4:51 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: What are you listening now?One of Stevie's best tunes! I absolutely love his phrasing!

Re: What are you listening now?Awwh yes, dolts abound so no worries Giba, I am used to explaining myself once, twice etc.
![]() Oh yeah, and again today I was watching/listening to JAM at the gym - it is very motivating music to work out to, along with some hot band members to watch. You want the playlist? It is on youtube. And grammatically and contextually - erm "just now" meant the most recent thing I was doing before engaging here. However, I am sure you do not want me to go all Chomsky and linguistics on you. But you should still look Chomsky up. Trolls abound too I am learning.

Re: What are you listening now?I really like The Weeknd.
It must be his voice. His phrasing is longer than most artists -holds his notes to the end without fading and continues without runs. (barely room for a breath). And he uses a natural vibrato -"The Hills". I watched the SNL version where he does it live. (which means it's real, not an edit, right?) What do you think about him (music/voice)?
Re: What are you listening now?haha The Weeknd is the cover story on Rolling Stone magazine.
![]() So sad to hear one of 3 Dog Night has passed; Mr. Cory Wells. I grew up listening to some crazy music in the '70's, but I love it now! All of their music is all so different -a fabulous band. My friend was scheduled to see them perform, but they had to cancel just last week. So sad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKaQzQAlNn4
Re: What are you listening now?here's a Rock band with a sound and concept reminiscent to the White Stripes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TorZwoajwxQ a little bit of angst, repetitive style & static makes me think of Jack White. Maybe even a little Black Keys. Female voice.
Re: What are you listening now?![]() Oh I guess it is Jack White's thing! ![]() I heard it on the Canadian channel -poor guy barely gets airplay in his hometown!
