Talk about music - songs/albums that you love, and the ones that you don't.

Ok - got through about 59 seconds and my first question: are the background guys the same that backed up Winehouse? Something about their movement - soul in the hips - seems so familiar to a Winehouse live performance of "You Know I'm No Good" - I mean the dudes were just grooving when I saw it and I f------ loved it. Mmmmmm Bruno . . . . . he has soul and great voice, good songs etc but he does not seem to have "suffered" "struggled" enough or his music does not take you to another place or educate or inspire me. I don't "feel" it like Marvin or get moving' or up like with Jam's or just feel heavenly and golden like w/ Stevie's - golden lady is a great example. I think the industry has just shifted so much; everything - even fashion - is ripped off from other eras but today music does not feel FRESH or unique; just very very generic. Whereas I pay attention and know who's who but mostly listen to older stuff. I am so grateful my parents introduced me to quality stuff - even books - early on in life. ps. I am a Californian and having gone to school in England and lived overseas - I am very aware that I use the word "like" too much. forgive me, I have been working hard

I have no idea who backed up Winehouse. I only got into her in her end days. But the guys may've been on tour with Bruno this past summer, the show was totally like this. joliefille wrote:Mmmmmm Bruno . . . . . he has soul and great voice, good songs etc but he does not seem to have "suffered" "struggled" enough or his music does not take you to another place or educate or inspire me. yes, maybe! But don't punish him, who really knows how much he's struggled. I don't think of him as a soul artist. People think he's "Pop", as filtered passion, constructed performance. But he's flexible, and funk fits him. I think there's a lot of effort in the low-key dance moves. I don't see it as ripoff. It's cyclical. I mean, c'mon, we don't live in a box! We are always influenced by everything everyday! And the 80's funk music is so fun to dance to! (my first bars) I like it!

@Giba - I agree that "cyclical" is a better word. Everything comes back but high quality books, music, art (erm cars ?) are timeless and only appreciate in value with time.
Oh no, I do not have anything against Bruno - his music is fine; it just does not really do much for me.
Sam Smith has a great voice.

The best part of Uptown Funk is you want to dance! It's fun! I actually think the brass steal the show Sam Smith -meh. He swallows his words, and not really my style He hits notes a bit like the Cranberries time for Pumpkin Pie! ) See this stuff was just fun!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeHDnF7MU90

Makes me think to a mashup beetwen Lenny Kravitz "Sugar" and Jamiroquai "Falling" Just sing in your head Falling during the intro "Yeah, you, you're the one, for your love, i think that i would do, anything" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glhdcJ7K3XM

"Between the Sheets" by the Isley Brothers - This was the most-played Isley song I knew from the 1980's. yes but this song was out long before Kravitz & Jami!

ElTouffe -are you talking about your song or my song? I heard the Doss song on the Groove, and the Johnston song on the Electric station. your song is nice. This song is nice if you're in the mood -slow & deep groove https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fErwjDY ... kyjQH_8OLi

@ElTouffe -I don't know that tune, but I'm only in one city. Maybe a Canadian radio station would play it (borders Detroit. Also French speaking in some parts of Canada.) it amazes me to see how the hip-hop culture has permeated the world -even the mannerisms! It is a good song- has a good beat, which actually is a groove. It took me a long time to warm up to hip-hop. If Ronson promotes, I think he'll do well. nothing new here music-wise :/

Yes JolieFille both songs are beautiful. Not on my radio -but perfect songs! I guess it's "Tuesday Breakup". B-side songs that blow most artists out of the water. "I wanna stay and never go away oh baby, it's alright" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzzjxNafS3U love the airplane!

I'm listening to the Christmas channels on SiriusXM Satellite Radio right now. Interesting how Christmas music actually gets you into the holiday spirit.
