Music class

Postby Giba7 on Tue Apr 10, 2012 7:39 pm

So I am taking a class and feel like I need to share!

digital compromises the quality of analog... it's like pointalism vs. strokes!

George Clinton is the most sampled artist! Ever! (that's what they say!)

okay, so just found out the friend who took this stuff years ago, used to hang out with George while he was recording there! He'd join them in the class!

Too cool!

my teacher was out due to a car accident.
So the owner of the studio stepped in to teach.
When his phone rang, it was a Bishop of the church. (apparently he's a Deacon.)
well that's a twist!

I know it's just random,
but the room I'm in was the old storage room for George Clinton's reel-to-reel tapes!
I'm wondering if there's any mr. green leftover!

Only a Detroiter would be excited about Detroit!

It has been fun. But it ends. And there is a final if you want an "official" pass.
But it's really difficult and technical, and well, the teachings haven't merited the learnings. (hmmmm..)
But how could I not try? So it's study my ass off the next weeks.

So yesterday, we studio prepped a band for recording.
We did all the micing. The owner prepared the console.
The band was his friends, and they were in their 50's, rock/blues.
And they were a fantastic cover band! The drummer was lead singer!
2 others sang, and were right on!
But our equipment (cords for the mics and cords for the headphones) kept faultering throughout their session! :?

So the studio called me today about another class.
I told him I never officially found out my final grade for the first one, and questioned the evaluations blah blah blah. But not that I was bitching just de-motivated to continue.
He said he'll find out my final and send me a certificate for completion of the class
I'm thinking, I shouldn't have to ask for this.
But now they need students. I think the owner had it in his mind I was taking the fall Production class simply cus he suggested. Hello. Seriously need some communication skills.

they didn't say they lost my final. But he couldn't give me the grade.
I called 3 or 4 times for the results, and even made a joke about stalking him (please)
So this is the scenario: studio is makeshift school.
nobody was expected to take the final. But the results would show what I had grasped.
When I arrived for the test, it wasn't set up. I think he (the owner, not even my teacher) threw questions together. I saved it and gave him the path (c:/documents...)
I think he lost the path to his test and my answers because he was too busy with other stuff.

I could care less, just don't ask me to come back.

what is my CV? Curriculum vitae? Certainly, except that I wanted some results!
