Let Jamiroquai take you on a White Knuckle Ride. Come here to talk about anything related to the new album...|
double vinyl = double album
'double vinyl' means 'two records', not a 'double album', but in the case of Jamiroquai's Rock Dust Light Star release, what would usually have at least 4-6 songs printed per side of the record if it was a 'whole album', it's merely 3 songs per side on each vinyl record of the release. Modern vinyl records are seeing more double sets being made purely for 'collector's sake' of single albums, either being new albums or old album being reissued. The funniest thing is, given Jamiroquai said they recorded more than +40 songs during the 'Rock Dust Light Star' sessions, you would think they would have released a 'double album', but given they are after all on a new recording contract, they felt they had to save alot of the new material for future album releases. Granted, we fans got alot of great new music widdled down for the original european deluxe edition of RDLS, but I was hoping for more new material to be added to the U.S. release given the belatedness of it. But alas, they kept it in the vault, but hopefully we will hear more soon, I mean, it's been 2 years since RDLS release, we are least due a new Jamiroquai album release by next year (2013). Cheers!
so a double album doesn't mean 2 separate records, or 4 sides of lp?
Thanks for clearing that up Giba and Jamirofan2000!
I did think that double vinyl meant double album which was why I thought it sounded misleading! So they just spread the tracks from one album over 2 vinyl records! But most of the songs are long jams so I now get it!
Yes, I think we are due a new Jamiroquai album in 2013 too!
waiting on a new album!
So did they release an individual song?
I think "White Knuckle Ride" and "2 completely different things" would make the radio.
And "Lifeline" would fit into the Motown vibe making it (Adele).
They could consider "Hurtin' " for the rock stations.
And "She's a Fast Persuader" as a tune for clubs or a movie theme.
