Lifeline

Let Jamiroquai take you on a White Knuckle Ride. Come here to talk about anything related to the new album...

Lifeline

Postby ilovejamiroquai on Thu Oct 21, 2010 1:12 am

...sounds very similar to "Heatwave"
They're not the same, but I can see something alike in the chorus of Lifeline. Maybe the trumpets make me think like this. Here's Heatwave:

And Lifeline you sure have listened it.

That's what I think  Sorry for my poor English. Good vibes!

hey!
Do you mind if I change the topic title to " Lifetime" ?
Then we can discuss everything related to this song as we don´t have another topic about it yet.
:D

Lifeline reminds me more of the style of Julian Perretta ( Matt, Paul and Rob are working with him )
for example " Wonder why " check it out. good stuff

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqSZnZePkvU&ob=av2n

I am really looking forward to hear the whole track of Lifeline..it´s such a happy sounding tune.
Actually if you have a look at facebook they have an application where you can hear a 1 Minute sample of the song!!!
:D :D

Aaron from Jamirotalk was lucky to get his hands on one of the promo cds...he shared the full lyrics :

Rollin, I'm down the sunny avenues,
Well all this running around, i'm back on the road with you again and baby,
free ride, i haven't got a care in the world, there's only me and you girl,
back on the road with you again baby,
sweet life, well honey your my best life, and all because you saved me,
Zero to hero that's what you made me, lady, you know that she excites me,
but her momma never liked me, i'm back on the road with you i gotta baby

Don't beg no hole in my soul, don't you spoil my sweet cherade
i get high on the girl. for me she was clearly made, and don't get mixed up about it,
cause she won't leave me i'd see, i get a groove with the girl, she got a lifeline out to me,
deadlines, we won't be needing any of them no more, seems as the right time,
to be back on the road with you again baby

I feel like, i never feel the cold now, i'll never be alone now, cause i'm back on the road with you again,

Don't beg no hole in my soul, don't you spoil my sweet cherade
i get high on the girl. for me she was clearly made, i don't need no destination cause my babys saving me,
she got lifeline of love, she got it all thrown out to me, don't lose me now cause i need you baby, need you baby,
We gotta get up, run away my baby, we gotta get on, run away baby,
you know your momma never liked me, cause she said we're gonna break up, said it's gonna never work,
but it's too bad baby, i'm back on the road again, i'm gonna move ya, run into the sunset, just me and you together
i've gotta groove on girl, your momma never liked me,

Don't beg no hole in my soul, don't you spoil my sweet cherade
i get high on the girl. for me she was clearly made,
i just got my feel good factor and it's gone right through the groove, i get the blues with the news, girl,
let's get it on the hoof, flying a lifeline, flying a life line, i'm flying a lifeline, flying a lifeline, throw me a lifeline,
i lifeline of love yeah, whoa i need you love

Why is this called Lifetime? There is a song called "Spend a Lifetime" and "Lifeline".
@ Sandriche -Yeah! So the lyrics will be in the liner notes. I hate guessing.

@ ilovejamiroquai -so sorry to criticize your comparison but I don't think Heatwave sounds anything like Lifeline! Especially Phil Collins which is one of my least favorites!

Definitely sounds like Julian Perretta's song Wonder Why, kinda Beatlesque with the guitar.
Which btw I tried to buy and accidentally bought the karaoke version on I-tunes

No problem man, it's alright!

Also I think they don't have anything similar. I tried to say that their orchestra is kinda alike... I don't know how to express this because I'm not an English speaker... I think Ninochka understood me

Lifeline, for me, is just about the best song on the album!
I love the intro, so Motown sounding to me! The song has a full sound of harmonies and melodies. Vocals are great! It's so upbeat and happy. Love the trumpets. And sweet about getting back together. Moving, Grooving...

"Zero to Hero" nice line.

But then it shifts to Julian Peretta style (actually, Beatlesque -which is nice and youthful).
Back to a more grooving pace. Just nice good feeling.
Symphonic with all these classical instruments. And even a flute(my instrument from high school!)

"Don't spoil my sweet Charade" best line!
A Lifeline of Love -great concept. But the music delivers.

Oh, Ninochka -You don't like Lifeline? I loved it instantly.
It is kinda pop, but much more complex. I really do like it.

Definitely like Fast Persuader too, though.

I really can't say which song will do best in the U.S. Still a bit perplexed about this.

It is gonna be Lifeline everybody... hate it or love it..

White Knuckle Ride, Blue Skies, Lifeline .. sometimes i don't understand Mercury for the song choosing, maybe they want to form this new image for Jamiroquai which is in my opinion based on those songs is more ballad, poppy, more radio-friendly tunes.. i can feel this 'habit' of a big record company for the couple first singles always seems to choose songs that doesn't represent the artist' most original identity, of course it doesn't effect us but in mass audience i'm afraid they'll tend to think 'oh it's only that they can do' , oh please.. God and Her Hitler know they can do better than THAT! maybe it's just marketing stuff..

So, here is another Motown reference for this song.
In the middle of Lifeline, the flute shows up around 2:30.
And here is Marvin Gaye's "Hitchhike" with the flute -skip ahead to about 1:15! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL03Js5X5W0

Also very funny video of the early days of Marvin Gaye!

I love this post for a couple of reasons:

1) You pointed out something I would have never heard if I had not been listening for it! The sounds are very similar. Love it!! You have great hearing Giba!!

2) Marvin and JK :D

Is this actually 3 reasons??? :?

love it!! wkr and lifeline are perfect for singles, blue skies not that much in my opinion :? (two completely different things would be amazing for a single)
for the choose of lifeline, i agree with u in the part that they are trying to build a new jamiroquai image: with a more 'organic' an 'live' sound. and for that, these tunes might be the best ones
