Re: Haute Cuisinetoday it is Sauerkraut and cooked pears. It could be a typical Dutch dish, or it is a typical German dish...not sure. But the dutch eat a lot of sauerkraut in wintertime

Re: Haute CuisineAnd another recipe for our Jamily cookbook!!
![]() Really don't know anything about Dutch food... except Gouda! ![]() I think Sauerkraut is Choucroute in France... and I thought it was a German dish but my friends told me it was an Alsacian dish just last week!! ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: Haute Cuisineyou are right Miss Lisa, it's choucroute in france. according to Wikipedia it is originaly from China or Mongolia and is eaten mostly in the east of Europe. Yes, Google is my friend
![]() It is actualy my least favorite vegetable and this is a recipe for children, sweet and sour together. With a thick layer of Gouda on top, I can eat anything ![]()
Re: Haute Cuisinesauerkraut is the vegetable cabbage, just pickled, right?
I only like it on a Reuben sandwich with lots of Thousand Island dressing! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reuben_sandwich (corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss cheese, rye bread, thousand Island dressing)
Re: Haute Cuisine
thats right, I think it is also added to hotdogs...but I am not sure. That is some sandwich!
Re: Haute CuisineI just had one today! There's an actual small restaurant called Reuben's!

Re: Haute Cuisine
So you inspired me StormeyG...those desserts looked delicious and festive! But it got me craving brownies. So I looked in my cupboard for ingredients. Only had white cooking chocolate so I found a recipe for white chocolate brownies and substituded orange extract in place of the vanilla extract that they called for. And used chopped almonds instead of macadamias. Turned out very nice! ![]()
Re: Haute Cuisine
Orange and chocolat is very nice!!! Good one. They sound very nice. Sorry that I got you eating chocolat though ![]() You want me to post the recipe for Berry-Cherry-Brownies?? I am going to make them this weekend for sure ![]()
Re: Haute CuisineHope my translation is right or at least understandable!
Berry-Cherry-brownies 200 grams butter 200 grams extra pure chocolate 72%, chopped 4 eggs 1 bag of vanilla-sugar 300 grams soft white sugar 200 grams of almonds chopped roughly 150 grams of dried cranberries 1 pot of pitted cherries (350 grams drained) 100 grams flour icing sugar cake pan (20 x 25 cm or 8 inch x 10 inch) baking paper 1) Pre-head the oven to 180 C or 356 F Cover the cake pan with baking paper. Melt the butter together with the chocolate at low heat (fire?) 2) beat the eggs, vanilla-sugar, soft white sugar in a bowl, so it becomes airy Mix the butter and chocolate through the egg-mixture and add the almonds, cranberries en cherries. Mix the flour in and add pinch of salt. 3) poor the batter in the cake pan and put it in the middle of the pre-headed oven for 35-40 minutes, then let it cool for 1 hour. Take the brownie out of the pan and slice it in cubes and cover it in icing sugar
