Haute CuisineRe: Haute CuisineWow... it's impressive !! I don't know if I could be vegetarian... maybe... anyway, I don't think my parents would let me ! after all, I'm still under age...

Re: Haute CuisineI am humbled by your vegetarianism, StormeyG.
![]() As for Italian goods, we can get almost anything here! At least on the East side! ![]()
Re: Haute CuisineI can get most italian foods, but not all cheeses I like to use. I love sicilian grapes for my wine and they are hard to get. Specialties from the Aeolean Islands, cannot get those either. Like a good Malvasia Liqor wine! Love that stuff.
Other then that you can get any foreign foodkind here in Holland. Found a beautiful Truffel Pecorino this weekend...loving it!
Re: Haute CuisineStormeyG, you don't eat non vegetarian cheeses or yoghurts as well ? This means you are vegan, aren't you ? It must be even harder... You're brave !!

Re: Haute CuisineVegan is when you not only don't eat meat, you also don't eat any animal products:
dairy, eggs, fish, jello. The only thing left is green grass juice. ![]()
Re: Haute CuisineI am sort of a flexi vegan. I eat the soya yoghurts and puddings, I do eat vegancheese (don't like it much), got fake egg in my cupboard, but haven't tried it yet. I try, but for now to be a fulltime vegan is just to hard for me. My family and friends are still recovering from me becoming a vegetarian. My mom doesn't want to cook for me anymore. it has happened that she'd ask me to leave so the rest of the family and friends could start diner. Really weird, since I have an indonesian background and indonesians don't kick people out before diner. Trying to skip it is usualy seen as a big insult.
Re: Haute CuisineOh ! I think you're really impressive, awesome !!! It must be so hard...
![]() Bravo ! Also.. fake egg ? Never heard of that !!! How could eggs be fake ??? ![]()
Re: Haute CuisineIt's this stuff http://www.stellalucy.com/orgrannoeggna ... lacer.aspx
haven't used it yet..still a little weird
Re: Haute CuisineOK !! It's a powder ! (?) I imagined real eggs or I don't know what...

Re: Haute Cuisine
I think so ![]()
Re: Haute Cuisine
![]() Eggs keep the baking together! Like the glue! And vegetarian life is tough! More power to you! ![]()
Re: Haute Cuisineah well, I'm very sorry but CheeseBurguers are pretty much my best friends at any ocasion.. I could never be a vegan
![]() ![]()
Re: Haute CuisineBut they have the best meat substitutes lately. So you could still eat cheeseburgers!
check out these chickenbits..doesn't that look like the real deal? ![]() or these meatballs ![]() BBQ is still possible, with all vegetarian products ![]() Vegan Cheeseburger recipe! http://www.ehow.com/how_2071521_make-ve ... urger.html spicey vegetarian cheeseburger recipe. http://www.food.com/recipe/spicy-vegeta ... che-463403 Trust me, it is eeeeeaaasy
Re: Haute CuisineOh yeah ! I remember now... When I went to England, Mrs C********** who accommodated us (= a friend and me) suggested vegetarian sausages (made with wheat ? ) to us... but we preferred pastas with tomato sauce !
![]() Anyway, these dishes looks really appetizing ! Finally, it's not "sooo hard" ![]() PS : How have you posted your photos ? Using Photobucket ?
Re: Haute CuisineI want some ! Like..NOW!
![]()
Re: Haute CuisineWhen we switch to vegetarian, it seems we want the food to look the same as meat.
But it is eating in a new style, and should look different. If we want it to look like meat, then eat meat! I have no problem eating food that looks Asian with tofu and rice. But it's the kids that you'd have to buy the veggie sausage for! ![]() This in no way is a slam to Stormey! Just an observation. ![]()
Re: Haute Cuisine
I am right there with you Giba! At first I found it very weird that there was "meat" for vegetarians...I share your opinion. I was just showing that it doesn't have to be hard to be a vegasaur with all the substitutes. It is also easier on people that don't know what to cook for us vegies ![]() A plus to these substitutes to meat is that they have extra vitamins B12 and Iron in them. If you eat healthy you don't need extra vitamins, but if you don't get the chance to eat healthy it is wise to eat some of this substitutes for the vitamins, or you just pop a pill ![]()
Re: Haute Cuisine![]() YEEEEEESSSSS !!!! I've done it !! Le far Breton !!!! ![]() ![]()
Re: Haute CuisineMiss Lisa that looks good! What is it?
This is one of my favorite dishes -Chicken Saltimbocca (sorry if your a vegetarian) ![]()
Re: Haute CuisineIt's a "Far Breton" The recipe is on the first page...
![]()
Re: Haute CuisineOh, I checked the recipe to the Far Breton, those are prunes!
We have prune paczki which always makes me laugh! The Saltimbocca is from one of my favorite restaurants 'Buca'. ![]() As for avacados, you can slice them thin and slip them into a sandwhich! Mmmm. ![]() Here is my banana/walnut french toast. Nothing special -easy to make.
Re: Haute CuisineLook totally delicious...
![]()
Re: Haute Cuisineyum! both the cake and the banana wanut bread, looks like perfect comfortfood to me!
Re: Haute CuisineHere's another dish I made. For the first time I cooked beef tongue. It really is kinda gross, though.
![]() But the sauce is a combo of garlic/vodka and is soooo good! ![]()
Re: Haute CuisineAh well...it really is the grossest when it's not cooked, but If you know how to cook it it's yummy
