usually people who have gone from being with a band to having a solo career change their style of music in some way. good examples of this are bernard fanning (previously with powderfinger), gwen stefani (no doubt) and van morrison (who was once with a band called Them). each of their styles of music changed when they went solo. maybe not so dramaticly for van morrison but i saw a change in bernard and gwen.
if jay continued with they way he writes and sings then i wouldnt mind.
but i do love jamiroquai and would hope he stays with the band.

this is nice said!
but i think gwen is better now than with a band, like she is more doing her stuff...
i also like jamiroquai as a band so much but if there could be one little chance just to hear and see what is just in Jay mind solo - i dont think he would do any better but just curious

Hm.. I would miss Derrick and Sola. And computer sound instead of a real band would be awful pop to me.
But as Cheeeba said, I liked the Jools Holland stuff, too, and he was "alone" there. Or the performance with Diana Ross, which was just a BLAST!

It's a difficult question.. =/

i think when Stuart really hits it off with his band Leroi, i'd rather collect their stuff than collect JK solo-stuff, i like his voice and his songwriting, but i don't think he can create an entire album himself.

I'm afraid he wouldn't hire a lot of musicians, and there'll be alot of programmed disco/house stuff on a JK solo album...

It would be nice if Jay did solo stuff so he can do his disco, house, rock things there... under the name Jay Kay.

Think about it... it's perfect. Jamiroquai can go back to the roots. It's a win-win situation. Fans of AFO and Dynamite get theirs. Old school fans get theirs. Everybody is happy. And Jay is the happiest. He can take part in making acid jazz AND disco, pop, rock, house whatever and release it under separate names. Jamiroquai will be as Jamiroquai is supposed to be (acid jazz) and Jay Kay can produce whatever music he fancies at the moment.

Fans can enjoy Jamiroquai. Groupies can enjoy Jay Kay.

It's a win-win situation I tell ya! Especially for Jay and the band since this will most likely yield even more sales since some fans will buy both Jamiroquai AND Jay Kay releases.

calm down bro. hahahahaha

it won't happen though....

who's gonna do the touring, Jamiroquai or JK??!
Eventually JK solo will raise more money, and then Jamiroquai will be history for good, now at least we can still hope...
